Since a while I was considering taking the OOPT. Everybody seems to say, it's easy, it just takes an hour. Today it was raining, I had my afternoon off so I purchased the test.
Surprise:
it doesn't work on my iPad. Fortunately I wrote down my ID and username since they disappeared afterwards.
I open my PC: I do not have Adobe Flash Player. (windows 7) I try desperately to seek for it among my programs, I search to download it via Chrome . Impossible. Anti-Virus Macafee installs himself, without even ask for my permission, so do several Extensions of chrome, they just occupy my computer.
I search again on Adobe, I should subscribe a program (30 dollars or euro each month) to install the Flash Player. A little bit pricey for a 10 dollar OOPT.
Two hours have passed. I am completely fed up and unnerved.
What is your experience with OOPT from the technical point of view?
I do not work anymore in a public administration or in a multinational enterprise with a huge IT support.
Can you please share your experiences? Can anybody help? Thank you in advance.
I've never taken this test, but I can assure you that Adobe Flash Player is free. Other Adobe products are not, so it's possible you have confused it with something else. Besides, if you have McAfee installed, chances are that AFP is on your computer too, since they go together (unless you uncheck the box that informs you about it).
AFP is an extension itself, so maybe what you took for unnecessary extensions is in fact the AFP that you downloaded. You just need to check if it's on. Use this link:

Thank you Grzybek! I think you are right- McAfee has been installed when I was using Chrome and went to the same site that you gave me for Adobe. I still didn't solve that part of the mistery. Followed the instructions to allow Chrome use Flash, no results.
But I opened old Internet Explorer....and I could access to oxfordenglishtesting-com and it worked.
The test itself didn't take that long, but I probably took a low level. I am looking forward to see if and when I get the results from Italki.

I had no problems at all by doing the test...I did use a regular pc and Google Chrome, and yes I needed to install the Adobe (that is free), but I don't know how it works with Ipads since I don't have one, sorry...
The test is, in fact, easy, but if I can give you one advice when you fix your technology issues is this:
- Be more patient than while answering (¬¬) and listen until the end of the audio tracks ... I was not aware of the implied and abstract topics that required more attention from me so I was too confident from the beginning a received a lower score ¬¬ ... my bad, I know that :(
I'll buy it again in the future ...
Spangola, you have to open the profile of the person and maybe you can see her results in terms of A1 to C2, but people can choose to hide the results.
Is it possible to see people's results? When I hover my mouse over the wee OOPT icon it just says "Oxford Online Placement Test" and if I click it, it just takes me to the page where you can take the test.
