I don't think sending postcards is old-fashioned at all. For me, it's a lovely tradition that I love to keep alive whenever I'm on vacation.

I still write letters and send postcards.

Not to my friends, as they live near and we can share whatever when meeting as well as via WhatsApp or other electronic means.We have a website where one can find pen-friends among lonely elderly people. They don't use PCs, some of them even don't have mobile phones. We keep correspondence by post. It reminds me of my childhood when I had pen-friends in different cities (actually villages) :) That correspondence is regular. We can also send some nice postcards to people who aren't our pen-friends to congratulate them on national and religious holidays. On such days they get many postcards and it makes their lives a bit happier)

We, in return, can get some first-hand information about the past, the way people lived. Many of life stories are very impressive. Three of my pen-friends already died as they were over 80 and had health problems. I still keep the letters they wrote to me. They are a sort of memorabilia...

Postcards are the most fun thing to send! It shows you care about the person enough to spend some small amount of money and time. Also, you're giving the person an object that was halfway around the world. It's much more real than dots on a screen.

I like sending postcards too. I like choosing the best landscapes or the postcard that represents the best the place I'm in. And receiving postcards is also great, especially when they are sent from abroad and made a long way to reach you.
