Desperate can mean that you have an absolute need, and may feel hopeless. "I have no food, I am desperate to eat." "He searched desperately for his missing child." Desperado is an old Spanish word that is sometimes used in English too. A bold criminal with little to lose. It's not commonly used in everyday English, but there's a good song by the Eagles named Desperado.

Desperado is a noun meaning "a desperate or reckless person, especially a criminal." Desperado is not an adjective. Desperate means a feeling of hopelessness because something is so bad as to be impossible to deal with. Desperate is an adjective.
