If there is any possibility to go and live in UK for at least 1 year do it..Your accent will improved as you would. If no, do what I did. Try to listen a lot to BBC Podcast released as free to public by BBC. You can go to http://www.bbc.co.uk/podcasts/worldservice I say again, You must listen a lot and repeat it for hours. Hope you get the British accent you look for.

Usually a person learns the accent of the place where he or she learns a language. My Japanese has a VERY regional accent. When I am communicating with other English-speakers, the more we talk, the more I pick up their accent and idioms.

usually the British emphasize on the "t" and "d"s - this is done when you pronounce the letter with your tongue on your palate (the roof of your mouth; top of your mouth inside) and they prolong the vowels. What is more if you want to learn the pure British accent you have to listen to such and try to copy it. Don't forget that there are a lot of different accents around the UK. It's the best if you are in the country or if you speak with some native people, that speak good British!

It is the language that you learn at school - it's called RP, or Queen English as we foreigners call it. I don't like it, My accent is more like Standard American, if it exists, though I love some of them British series like the Ideal - so hilarious.
