for one's liking....?? What does it mean ? A person said : This cake is a bit sweet for my liking. Is he saying this cake is too sweet to accept ?? He does not like this cake , right? " for one's liking" ...do you use it a lot in the daily conversation ? Please comment. Thank you.

To the way you like it. So if it's not up to my liking, it's not the way I like it. If I make something to your liking, then I would make it to the way you like it. I like tasty cake, so tasty cake is to my liking.

Joe's answer is good. Another way you might hear this is that something is too <adjective> for/to my taste. "This cake is a bit sweet for my taste." It means the same thing.
