You design a Curriculum Vitae to give to the employer a BIGGER PICTURE of you as student, as a person (interests and achivements) and as a worker, it's a wider information. A resume is really brief and, generally, just goes to the point without showing too much background. I suggest you to do both, a CV is a time consumer and sometimes a pain... you know where... but it's necessary to do an efficient resume because you will know exactly how to "condense" de information in a adequate way. Once you have both... you could "play" with them in order to know which one you need in different situations... and if someday you are not sure of what you can send, send them both !!! you can always put your resume in front of the curriculum vitae. ^^

Nothing. Unfortunately, the word "curriculum vitae" is too long for most Americans to learn, so they stuck with the shorter word, "resumee".

As far as I know curricula vitae (CVs) tend to be longer than résumés. That doesn't tell the whole story though. For example, geographical location may determine the name of the document you are expected to provide when applying for a job. In the UK, we only use the term "curriculum vitae" - and it can be one page, two pages or even three - and I have never heard anyone here calling it a résumé.

Apparently a CV is more detailed than a resumé; a resumé is hardly more than two pages. However, in practice these expressions are often used interchangeably. I keep my resumé on a single page, covering nothing but basic info and the last couple of years' work. I've learnt that most employers don't love reading that much. PS. Just noticed that resumé is also spelt as "résumé". You could just ignore the accents, but some smart alec might pronounce it as "rezyoom".
