在美国我们一般叫手机的短信， "text message".
在中国你们说什么？ 短信，SMS？ 都可以吗？还用别的吗？ 哪是最常用的？

短信、sms都可以，短信是最通用的说法。
同理，“彩信”等同于mms，一般直接说彩信。
补充：还有一种更casual的说法：发消息（send a message）。例如：一会儿我给你发消息，告诉你在哪里见面。
