Ekaterina Gritsan

Katerina is excellent for many reasons. She is patient and waits for me to answer a question. She is encouraging and helps me when I am struggling with an answer. She is professional and is always ALWAYS prepared with reading passages, exercises, etc. She is kind and compliments me when I accomplish anything (whether it be something big or small) and this makes me motivated to keep pushing myself to learn more. She sometimes talks too quickly but if there are times when I don't understand something, she immediately slows down and reexplains things (first in Greek and then in English). She works hard to ensure my success by writing things down so that I can remember the new things that I learn. She is very knowledgeable about both modern and classical Greek and Greek and Byzantine history and teaches me much about them! I have been working with Katerina for several months and love working with her!!! As a result, I have 1-2 lessons weekly with her and plan to do so for a long time!

I enjoy how Katerina gives a variety of assignments: passages from different books, grammar rules and exercises, short stories, audio clips with exercises, etc. She is always prepared with excellent activities that challenge me! :-)

I enjoy all the different ways that we go through my lessons. I like the sequence of the parts of the lesson. For example, in today's lesson, first we went over what I did for homework and answered any questions that I had. Then Ekaterina introduced me to a new reading passage. She went over the words that I was not familiar with. Then I read the story aloud to her. I translated each sentence with her help. Afterwards, she asked me to describe something in my life that was related to the story. Ekaterina is very professional and patient, always on time, consistently prepared and organized, and make the lessons enjoyable!

Fantastic tutor! I really like the way she explains things!

She always spends extra free time with me at the end if we have not finished the lesson. That way we do not end abruptly and with missing information. She also prepares me well for the homework assignments, which are not too easy and not too hard. They are perfect, and I feel prepared.
