Today teacher Nobi and I discussed on the topic “Where should the line be drawn between individual freedom and social rules?” And I would say this was one lesson that teacher showed the breadth of his knowledge and analysis of Japanese society regarding social rules, by explaining the roots of the Japanese culture of conformity and social norms and the Japanese way of thinking between public and private space. This topic and teacher Nobi‘s comprehensive and in-depth explanation and discussion is a masterclass of conversation practice lesson. Kudos Nobi-sensei!

Nobi sensei is an active listener and he listens with the intent of understanding the scenario that I am explaining, and asks, contributes and sometimes challenges what I am discussing so that I don’t only practice my conversations skills but to also to improve how I explain so I can be easily understood by native Japanese speaker.

First time using Italki. Although I can't express myself well in Japanese and despite being a bit nervous I had a very good experience with Nobuya-san. He was relaxed and friendly, and that helped me. Thank you very much for the lesson.
