Tuân Huỳnh

I’ve been taking Vietnamese lessons with Tuân for over a year, completing more than 100 lessons so far. Thanks to his teaching, I’ve gained significant confidence in speaking and listening, so much so that I’ve noticed Vietnamese content popping up in my social media feeds! What makes Tuân stand out is his ability to make lessons feel like natural, enjoyable conversations rather than rigid classroom sessions. After each lesson, I often feel like I’ve just finished chatting with a friend rather than wrapping up a language class. His teaching method is structured yet flexible: he ensures a strong foundation in the basics before smoothly progressing to more complex sentence structures and real-life topics. This approach has helped me build my skills steadily without feeling overwhelmed. For new learners, my advice is simple: stay consistent. The more effort you put in, the more you’ll get out of it—and with Tuân as your teacher, the journey is both rewarding and enjoyable!

Tuân is very knowledgeable in language learning, and is able to make difficult concepts easy to understand. I love the cultural exchange we had in the last couple of lessons!

First time ever trying to learn Vietnamese, Tuân was very helpful and relaxed and helped me take my time and feel relaxed as can be. I always feel nervous of making too many mistakes or sounding poorly and foolish, and hearing how hard Vietnamese is to learn I feel extra nervous, Tuân helped me relax and realize this will take time and to not be too hard on myself! I am excited to make progress and be able to look back in time with lots of growth!

I've been taking lessons with Tuân for nearly 4 months and my Vietnamese has improved greatly! I started taking lessons to speak with my in laws and can now hold basic conversations. 4 months of lessons have done more for my skills than years of apps, books, and self study. I started taking lessons so that way I can continue the language and culture for my unborn son. Tuân teaching style is engaging and practical, which makes language acquisition fun and purposeful. I used to take lessons once a week, but now take them 3 times a week. I will be very sad to take a short break during my maternity leave. I look forward to resuming lessons until I've mastered fluency! I have even occasionally found myself to be dreaming in Vietnamese and encouraging my friends and (non-Viet) family to start taking italki lessons as well! You can tell that Tuân is passionate about teaching, sharing in cultural exchange, and has genuine interest in your development as a speaker!

Tuan is a kind and supportive teacher. Lessons are engaging and I feel are tailored to my needs. Learning a language can be daunting and although I know some basic Vietnamese, I have always lacked the confidence to speak it and lacked the appropriate vocabulary. Tuan creates a relaxing environment and encourages me at the right level, teaching me new and very helpful vocabulary and grammar. This has had a very positive impact on my confidence in using Vietnamese. I also enjoy how Tuan gives me insight into the country and culture which is always important when learning a language.
