Matt

Matt is an excellent teacher. He takes great care in preparing for classes, he is a joy to talk to and he also gives amazing writing advice that goes far beyond simply learning English and the common structures used in standardised tests like IELTS. I’m sure he can help many students on different levels and I believe he is one of the (few) people that are especially helpful for those already advanced yet still interested in improving their skills. Above all, Matt is a great person. He has many interests and it seems to me that it is quite impossible to have something other than the most engaging conversation ever with him. Thank you Matt!

Thanks to Matt I was able to get a very high mark in the IELTS exam, especially in the writing and speaking sections. I recommend Matt for all students sitting the IELTS in the future!

Our lesson with Matt was excellent. We identified our goals, and throughout the class, Matt consistently connected his feedback to those goals. He has a great personality and is truly a skilled professional.

翻了一下Matt页面下的评论，好像没有找到比我上更多课的人了，我想对于Matt上课的评价，我应该有一点点的发言权。 我是2019年第一次用italki，那时候我在悉尼上我的第一个研究生课程。由于本科毕业已经快10年了，离开校园太久，重新捡起英语非常吃力，然后，非常幸运地遇到了Matt。那时候我的雅思口语和写作大概都在6.5和7之间挣扎，我希望每一门课都拿Distinction以上的成绩，我的英语显然是不够用的（那个时候我还不知道Matt的写作这么厉害，更不知道他是个诗人）。那时候我们做了非常多的写作练习，我写的东西，他都一字一句地帮我批改，指导我学术写作的段落编排，以及逻辑结构是怎么构建的。到了2020年，2021年，当我回看自己2019年的写作，发觉已经上了一个台阶。到后来，我和Matt的课程，已经不再去讨论写作和口语，到后来我读了第二个研究生学位，我已经不再需要为了提高写作和口语去跟Matt上课(我两个学位所有课程都是Distinction以上成绩结束的)。我们平时上课像朋友一样谈天说地，足球，文学，诗歌，艺术，时政等等。Matt是有趣的人，你永远不用担心没有话题。这大概就是“有趣的灵魂”吧。希望更多的人，找到好老师。

I would like to express my sincere gratitude to Matthew for being such a patient and thoughtful teacher. There are many comments saying he's a interesting person, and I can't argue with that. If we're in twelfth-century, I think he would probably be a troubadour that travels from London to Provence writing poems and songs. If I am being complete honest here, the "Book Lesson" button on his page, to me, is like a door left slightly ajar, something that you can't wait to explore ;)

It was a fantastic experience and first class. The conversation flow was great, Matt was genuinely interested in making me speak confidentely, keeping the conversation friendly and easy. He corrected mistakes as appropriate, and provided really good examples and explanations on language /words origins.
