Hello, everyone! I am Elena. I am from Guangzhou, a city in south China.
My Chinese name is Jiaxian; I am a native speaker of Mandarin and Cantonese.

When I was in New Zealand for a working holiday a few years ago, I realized that learning their language is always the best way to know more about different cultures. I used to work in the retail and management industry and enjoy communicating with people. We would have many topics for our conversation, such as travel, business, daily life, etc. I hope my class can make you feel comfortable practicing as much as possible.

We reviewed the lesson from last week as well as new material on the same topic. Was very thorough in explaining things I wasn't sure of. She also asked my questions to back up what we just talked about, and went through exercises.

After experiencing lessons with other teachers, I can confidently say that I REALLY enjoyed my second class with her! She made learning fun, and our lesson was well-structured yet flexible, allowing me to speak a lot without feeling lost or unsure of what to say. Talking to her felt so natural, almost like chatting with a friend. I’ll definitely be taking more classes with her!

Learned a lot of new things today! Whenever I was unsure of something or didn't know the character used for the jyutping, the teacher provided explanations for the words and would provide the written character in chat.
