Marlene

Marlene es la mejor profesor y la más simpática que he tenido a través de iTalki. Ella es muy paciente y me anima a cumplir mis objetivos. ¡La recomiendo mucho!

I normally leave my reviews in Spanish, as this is part of the learning process. But I wanted to leave one review in English. Marlene is a wonderful Spanish teacher. She prepares for every class, and she makes corrections with kindness. She remembers errors from past classes and helps her student learn, slowly in my case, from earlier mistakes. But Marlene is so much more than a wonderful Spanish teacher. Marlene involves either a video or an article in Spanish with a theme. Sometimes these themes are light. But often these themes are informative about things that matter in life, whether discussed in Spanish or in any other language. I have learned much more than language from Marlene. I cannot recommend a teacher more highly. Try her packet of five classes, because after five classes, you too will realize that you are learning Spanish as a byproduct of a more important education.

She is one of the best tuors I've had. I had some technical problems and it seems that ''italki'' has become more difficult to use and I lost around 10 minutes because of it. I hope that one can design it to be more simple and maybe it is not just me because I don't have problems with other platforms.

Marlene is so easy to talk to, and when I am speaking but not sure how to say someting, she gives me the time to think about the word, verb or conjugation. But if I need her help, she is right there to explain things. My conversations with her have allowed me to be more relaxed instead of nervous. I know I still make mistakes, but the main thing is to be able to talk, or tell a story, without feeling inadequate. On my recent trip to Mexico, I felt more confident to ask questions and also to ask the speaker "otra vez, más despacio por favor." I know that learning a language takes practice, practice, practice, and Marlene encourages me to learn at my own pace. She is so nice and friendly and patient. I feel like I have a friend in her; someone I can share stories with, or talk about movies, TV, travel, history, culture. I definitely plan on continuing with Marlene, and I would encourage any student to see if she's the right fit for you.

I absolutely would recommend Marlene! Today was more of an informal lesson and conversation but Marlene was great about subtle corrections and recording in the chat concepts I should work on!
