Steff

I've been taking lessons with Steff for several months. He is patient, kind, and fun, important qualities in a teacher. He’s a careful listener and provides constructive feedback. He gives suggestions on more natural ways to express myself. I make countless mistakes, sometimes the same mistakes I’ve already made, and I can become flustered by my errors. Yet Steff remains a calm and humorous influence and I tend to end up laughing over my German language missteps. I most enjoy that Steff teaches me how to speak German like a German. We don’t use canned textbook phrases so the language sounds more natural. Before taking classes with Steff, I took a three month course at the Goethe Institute. I have learned more in less time with Steff than I did in that course. I look forward to improving my German language skills and being able to have more complex discussions. Steff is an interesting person who doubtless has great stories to tell and can speak on many topics. Vielen Dank, Steff!

German lessons with Steff are always fantastic! Every lesson is clearly structured, allowing for free conversation alongside the materials or plan for the day. He not only corrects mistakes, but also gives suggestions as to alternative expressions (so you don't repeat yourself), or better expressions (that sound more natural). Steff also makes all of the notes, so you can just focus on speaking! I highly recommend classes with Steff. After just a few months I feel that my German has come such a long way, and I don't feel it would have been possible without his help!

Unorthodox way of structuring lesson, for me - all the better, custom to suit the learner's needs with extreme flexibility and truly friendly approach, lesson ran well over allocated time with no issue from the lecturer, not once hurried along but rather focused on answering question and providing advice, highly recommended..

My lessons with Steff have been such a joy! He strikes a great balance between free-flowing conversation and correction, while offering super useful suggestions on word choice/formulations that have helped my German become more natural and idiomatic. Teaching online is so difficult, but Steff is able to foster the type of welcoming, friendly and fun atmosphere that is ideal for language learning. Steff's lessons are highly personalized, and can be as structured or as spontaneous as you like. It has been a true pleasure working with him!!

I have > 10 years studying the German language, my grammar skills are high and I have read many great works of literature. Thanks to Steff, I can actually COMMUNICATE auf Deutsch now— I was able to interact effectively at a wedding reception last summer, for example. I have learned lots from other iTalki tutors, Steff is at least one notch above the rest, take it from me!
