Hi! My name's Karyna and I'm a certified English as an other language teacher with a neutral American accent. I grew up in and around Chicago, in the US. Right now, I'm living in Tacoma, in the northwestern part of the US. I have a bachelor’s degree in anthropology, a certificate in teaching English (CELTA). I also have a certificate in Instructional Design and I'm working on a Master's degree. I've taught in schools, companies and online for over 8 years, including general English, business English, academic English and test preparation. In my free time, I like watching TV shows, listening to podcasts and running/hiking.

My students tell me that I'm a friendly, patient and professional teacher. I make students feel comfortable to speak English and make mistakes. I really enjoy seeing my students improve over time. I’m always very prepared for class. I have extensive experience in teaching English and choose the best techniques and course materials for each student.

My lessons are structured and organized. I start every lesson with 10-15 minutes of conversation (for 60-minute and 90-minute classes) Then, we work on our lesson topic/materials – such as a textbook chapter, article or job interview practice. I’ll assess you regularly with quizzes, roleplays, activities and games. You are my only student – so I’ll adapt the course to you and your preferences. Course materials may include: textbooks, worksheets, articles, audio, and video (see class descriptions for materials used in each class). I’ll send all of the materials to you. I give homework, depending on your preference. If you prefer to not do homework, the speed of the course will be slower.

Karina is a great teacher: she is well prepared, listens to your needs and creates each lesson just for you. She helps you to improve your English from many points of view: speaking, grammar, pronunciation, reading, listening and writing. She gives you a lot of tips to find the best way to learn easily and effectively. I feel more confident with English now than ever before.

I can still remember the first lesson. I was almost unable to say a word, but Karyna is an amazing teacher. I have always felt comfortable during her lessons, and she has led me on a continuous journey of improvement. Now, I can enjoy books and movies in English, and I also feel more confident communicating with native speakers at work. The tailored format includes grammar, conversation, and pronunciation, making it suitable for all needs.
