I have several years of teaching experience in different settings. I've taught Finnish on Italki and in a company teaching Finnish to internationals hoping to move to Finland. With me you won’t be ‘taught’ per se, you will be invited to learn by doing, to try things out, and to accumulate competence upon what you already know. My students quickly learn to ask me ‘can I say…? (voinks mä sanoa…?)’ followed by something they have just formulated. As a teacher I am encouraging, and try to activate my students to use as much Finnish as possible. People usually tell me they can be themselves in my company. This no stress state helps them to express themselves better in Finnish as the brain has no reason to activate the sympathetic nervous system (fight/flight/freeze response) which would compromise higher brain functions. I have about 2000 hours of teaching experience, mostly online but also face to face.
