My goal is to create a supportive and engaging learning environment that makes language learning enjoyable and effective. I am passionate about languages and education. I have experience teaching both Icelandic and English, as well as teaching philosophy at the university level. My teaching philosophy is centered around communication. I believe in the power of oral proficiency as a foundation for language learning, and thus, my lessons are predominantly focused on helping you become confident and fluent in speaking Icelandic. Whether you're starting from scratch, looking to improve your conversational skills, or aiming to master the nuances of this beautiful language, I'm here to guide you every step of the way.

I understand that the desire to learn a new language can be rather fickle, so my goal is to keep you motivated by balancing the practicalities of learning Icelandic with your own particular interest in the language.

Though only on an informal basis, I have always enjoyed teaching others since I know clearly what it is like to be on the other end as a student and aim to make students as comfortable as possible. I help motivate students to achieve success by concentrating on the goals that they have set for themselves. I keep teaching balanced by focusing on accurate pronunciation, correct grammar, and even additional areas such as language register (spoken vs. written language, slang, etc.).
