Let’s work on our pronunciation today and explore the peculiar world of Russian tongue-twisters.  This one is a great way to check if you’re getting your sh [ш] and s [с] right.

Seasonal Adverbs:
Влітку — in summer
Example: Влітку сонячно — It’s sunny in summer.

Взимку — in winter
Example: Взимку холодно і сніжно — In winter, it’s cold and snowy.

Весною — in spring
Example: Весною тепло — It’s warm in spring.

Восени — in autumn
Example: Восени часто вітряно — In autumn, it’s often windy.

Weather Verbs:

Дощить — it rains
Example: Влітку часто дощить — It often rains in summer.

Сніжить — it snows
Example: Взимку сніжить — It snows in winter.

Світить сонце — the sun is shining
Example: Весною часто світить сонце — In spring, the sun often shines.

General Weather Phrases:

Надворі холодно — It’s cold outside.
Надворі сонячно — It’s sunny outside.
