.....The meeting is still going on/is still ongoing/ is still running... The other day, I had a meeting in the evening and it lasted more than two hours, longer than usual. My wife called me and asked me when I would come home. I hung up the call and texted, 'The meeting is still running.' 1. The meeting is still going on. 2. The meeting is still ongoing. 3. The meeting is still running. What is the difference between these sentences? Which sounds more natural? What would you say in this situation? Thank you. :)

In my opinion, the first one is by far the most natural. The second one sounds overly formal , and the third one isn't a way a native would say it.

The second sentence sounds more suited to the news: "The meeting between the two leaders is still ongoing." I'm not sure about the third one but if you have heard it before... The first sentence seems completely natural. I'd say that the meeting isn't over yet or that the meeting hasn't finished yet. I hope it helps :)

Only 1. You can also just say ‘I’m still in a/my meeting.’

I would personally say "The meeting is still going."
