Firstly, according to my experience, though translation software becomes more and more accessible and advanced, it’s function still has much room to improve. And it can be nearly unusable when translating the language that is not popular. This leads to a problem that when reading a new language, using translation software is NOT more preferable than learning it (and of course, in a long term). Secondly, between two languages, there is something that can NOT be translated explicitly. It is inevitable in many aspects, especially literature. So if you want to have a deeper understanding of a region, learnings it’s language is better than just using translation software.

According to my experience, although translation software is becoming more accessible and advanced, its functionality still has much room for improvement. It can be nearly unusable for translating lesser-known languages. This creates a problem where using translation software is not more preferred than learning the language when reading a new language. Furthermore, between two languages, there are things that cannot be explicitly translated. This is inevitable in many aspects, particularly in literature. So, if you want a deeper understanding of a region, learning its language is better than relying solely on translation software.
