Steal my thunder is a common English expression that you will hear a lot. For example, imagine you had got a great result in an exam and you went home to tell your parents but as you are telling your parents the good news, your brother tells them he got a new car and your parents become distracted by his information and forget about yours. Your brother "stole your thunder". I hope this helps!

It's a really funny saying. It was used a lot in the Pixar movie 'Cars'.

win praise for oneself by preempting someone else's attempt to impress.

In smaller words, Thunder is really loud and gets attention. So, 'steal my thunder' means, 'you are taking away my glory'. 'i was going to be impressive, but you took it away'.

It's an idiom. So it is hard to understand. Does that make sense?
