Chinese People: Have you ever heard about Reggae music (雷鬼) ?
Reggae (雷鬼) is Jamaican folk music and was once spread over the whole world as the legendary Bob Marley gave it a religious aspect through Rastafari. Once I went to Beijing I recognized in a record store that there was no Reggae music except from Bob Marley. Why is it?
Is it about the criticism on political systems which is picked out as central theme in many songs?
I know about a Reggae underground in Korea and Japan, but not in China. All my efforts on finding some chinese Reggae bands led to the "longjinband" which are honestly kind of poor. Can you help me?
In the end I want to name some famous Reggae artist for you to check out.
Lutan Fyah
Sizzla
Anthony B
Richie Spice
Tarrus Riley
Sometimes...
I listen Sean Kingston....
But in fact...Reggae music is not popular in China.
Generally speaking, most of Chinese teenagers don't know who is bob marley...
They like Jay Chou...Lady Gaga...etc.
As for me,I prefer Death Metal Rock...
