Are intelligent people more selfish?
There are different types of intelligence, we have the "out of the box" kind and also the conventional ones. There is a correlation with the character of people and their level of intelligence. I partially agree that intelligent people tend to be more selfish, I have met some who are and a few who aren't.

@Florian
I'm not sure that I agree that being intelligent has anything to do with whether a person likes to socialise or not. Everyone has their crowd, the people they are comfortable being around. Some people love big crowds and some prefer smaller crowds.

Sometimes people who are very intelligent can express things or talk in a way that may come across as snobbish etc. but I think that quite often it is just a difference of communication and understanding. There are a few that think they are better than others because of their intelligence but I don't think this is the common way of thinking.
As for selfish, I'm not sure if a personality trait can be linked to intelligence. It is interesting to think about though. I mean, I'm going through my head of the people I know that are really intelligent...and one comes to mind that I know can be selfish, but whether that is connected to their intelligence, I don't know.

It’s funny that all responses so far have referred to intelligent people in the third person.

Anyway, the greatest pleasure for intelligent people is to look like an idiot in front of an idiot who pretends to look like an intelligent person

Okay, so if I took the hit for intelligent people by representing them in this thread, would that make me selfless? And if that’s the case, would that make me not intelligent?
