Yes, I was always considered the favorite until about the age of twelve. I wouldn't say I gained any special favors or privileges from the teachers. They just rewarded me appropriately for doing my work, doing it well, and not being disruptive in class. Perhaps that meant a rare smile from a teacher who had a reputation for being demanding, praise for my work, and the good grades that I had earned.

Unfortunately, a few other students weren't happy about that. One girl who sat behind me would constantly whisper to me that I was "chouchou du prof" every time I gave a correct answer. She accused the teacher of favoritism and spread unfounded rumors that I was cheating. It just shows that unhappy and insecure people always try to tear down others and find injustice where there is none, instead of improving themselves. Anyway, later, those rumors were put to rest when I obtained the same results on a standardized exam on which it's near impossible to cheat. That girl should have spent more time studying instead of spreading rumors, because her results were what they had always been, but this time, she couldn't blame them on preferential treatment.

Because I have always had a thirst for knowledge, I may have been considered a Teacher’s Pet in secondary school and college. I always sat in the front row and was the first one to ask questions—especially questions the other students were afraid to ask. I followed the teacher’s instructions and always completed all of my work. However, many people who refer to students as a Teacher’s Pet mean it in a pejorative fashion—such as implying the pet is really a suck-up. I think a few people probably felt that way about me, too. But I didn’t bring my teacher’s presents or shower them with compliments, as “suck-ups” commonly do. I worked hard and was genuinely interested in the subject. As a result, I usually excelled. That can cause jealousy, even though I never thought I was better than anyone else and would always be willing to help others, if needed.

Yes I have been when I was in Kindergarten. She used to call me all the time and ask me to read aloud to the student. It can also be because she is our family friend.

In my mind, all teachers love smart students. Unfortunately, I am just a run-of-the-mill student without any special talent.
Teacher's Pets always enjoy more chances to join various competitions and have larger flexibility in their school life.
