[Little essay] Factors contributing to the increase in international travel In the last 25 years, the amount of people who travel to other countries rather than their own has been increasingly getting bigger. Either for leisure or business we will discuss briefly in the following lines the reasons why this phenomenon is happening. First, we have to take into account that most of the countries have started to offer different kind of passes making getting around local areas easier. For instance, in the Japanese case the “JR Pass” offers better prices for foreigners than local people to use the local trains. Also the number of low cost airlines skyrocketed so that now is cheaper to fly to other countries close to each other. Secondly, the effect of globalization through the movies, TV and the Internet. Lots of people have developed a love of others cultures through their movies, TV shows or music. In the past this was by far more difficult due to the lack of the means we have nowadays. For instance, if you wanted to watch TV show you had to wait for a local TV network to buy the rights and even worse in the Spanish case you had to wait they dubbed the show. Whereas now you can follow all the TV shows wherever they are from, almost at the same moment they are released. To sum up, from my view we are prone to live in a global society where everyone could afford and enjoy travelling to other countries. This hopefully will result in a common enrichment for everyone by getting to know different cultures and languages. [Thanks in advance for reading]

[Little essay] Factors contributing to the increase in international travel

In the last 25 years, the amount of people who travel to other countries rather than their own has been increasingly getting bigger. I will briefly discuss in the following lines the reasons why this phenomenon is occuring.

First, we have to take into account that most of the countries have started to offer different kind of passes for easier travel in local areas. For instance,  “JR Pass” is offered in Japan with better prices for foreigners than local people for the use of local trains. Also the number of low cost airlines have skyrocketed and it is cheaper to fly to countries closer to each other.

Secondly, the effect of globalization through movies, TV and the internet. Lots of people have developed a love of other cultures through their movies, TV shows or music. In the past this was by far more difficult due to the lack of the means we have nowadays. For instance, if you wanted to watch TV shows you had to wait for local TV networks to buy the rights; it was even worse in Spain since you had to wait until the show was dubbed. Fortunatley, you can now follow all the TV shows wherever they are from, almost at the same time they are released.

To sum up, we are prone to live in a global society where everyone can afford and enjoy travelling to other countries. This will hopefully result in a common enrichment for everyone by discovering different cultures and languages.
