catch you later I watched some moives,I heared the actors always said :catch you later.I looked up the dictionary, and I know this phrase means : I will see you later,am I right? one more question:does 'catch you later' just mean a short time ? For example:when I am after work,I say to my colleagues :see you later, because I will see them in 12 hours, and 12 hours is a short time. another example: A friend will go to another city. He will return in two weekes.can I say catch you later to him?because two weekes is a long time,so I wonder .

I agree with Maria. This is usually used with shorter times, as you guessed. As a rule, try to only say it if you will the person today or tomorrow. If your friend said he would be back home in two weeks, you could say "See you then!"

this phrase " catch you later " is only intended for a short duration of time if possible within the day that you saw the person. for your friend who will be returning after 2 weeks - It would be proper to say " See you soon". since it will take a long period of time before you could see your friend.

"catch you later" is "because of You", not "because of someone else", for you have the excuse and hurry.
