¿Cómo se dice "I want to improve my Spanish" en español?
I'm kind of dismayed that I don't know how to say this but I can't come up with anything that sounds natural to me.
I wanted to correct Jeannette's Notebook Entry titled "Mi presentaciòn :)" but I ran into some difficulty with one sentence.
She wrote:
Espero que alguien me puede ayudar a ampliar mis conocimientos. (en español).
Is "ampliar mis conocimientos" the right phrase here? This just sounded strange to me but I'm not a native speaker so what do I know?
Working with Google Translate, I came up with:
I hope someone can help me improve my abilities in the Spanish language.
Espero que alguien pueda ayudarme a mejorar mis habilidades en el idioma español. (o simplemente "en español? ")
Well that sounds a bit formal to me. I'm also concerened about "habilidades". Is that the best word here? It doesn't seem much better than "conocimientos".
Could one just say " ayudarme a mejorar mi español?" That seems like a translation from English. Is it natural to say that?
