Can you explain me difference between "reminiscent" and "resembles". Can you explain me difference between "reminiscent" and "resembles". By the way, i can use "reminiscent" in this sentence: their very long twisted horns which are somewhat reminiscent of coiling snakes.

Well first of all, "resemble" is a verb and "reminiscent" is an adjective. A resembles B. A is reminiscent of B. "Resemble" means "look like" or "seem to be like". So there are similarities between A and B. "Reminiscence" (the noun of "reminiscent") is the act of bringing something to one's mind. The the idea is about remembering or thinking about something. "A resembles B." = A looks like B. "A is reminiscent of B." = A would make one think of B (through their similarities). Yes, you can use your example sentence because it's already here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Markhor
