What does "inculcated industry" mean? This is something I find from an article about Benjamin Franklin, who created "Poor Richard's Almanac" and filled in the blank between important days with provervial sentences such as "inculcated industry" and frugality. I'd appreciate the answer. Thank you!

"inculcated industry" (or "inculcated industry and frugality") - inculcate: to instill an idea or principle in someone's mind through continual admonition and education. - industry: industriousness. diligence. "energetic, devoted activity at any work or task"(by Dictionary.com). So "inculcated industry and frugality" means the attitude of being diligent at one's work and striving to preserve rather than waste resources, which was attained through deliberate education. "inculcated" emphasizes that people can acquire such an attitude through education, as opposed to being born with such a trait.

Other people keep forcing ideas to the industry and this is what makes the industry.Perhaps the industry is shaped forcefully and is controlled and made by a certain group of people that only fits their interests. (This is only a guess, so I am only commenting! :)
