Participative or participatory What adjective can I use to describe a person who likes taking part in events or activities? I thought that participative was a good alternative, but I realized that participatory could be also posible. Then I looked up for their meanings and I got more confused. These were what I found: Participative: relating to or involving participation; especially : of, relating to, or being a style of management in which subordinates participate in decision making. Participatory: characterized by or involving participation; especially : providing the opportunity for individual participation <participatory democracy> <participatory management>

Oh wow - awesome question. As a heads up, I haven't heard either word used with frequency. To my understanding, for a person who participates with frequency (and well, ie. They are engaged.), it's better to use participative. Participatory is more of the *ability* for a person to be participative. (ie. if a meeting allows participation, it would be a participatory meeting). Hopefully, this answers your question!
