I dont believe I've ever heard anyone use that expression that way. In my experience, ive heard: "throw/throwing them (or a different pronoun) under the bus" as an expression when someone is being betrayed. "Throwing me off" is an expression that can be used when something is confusing to understand and is more distracting. The above examples made by others are good too.

Hey Ethan! As far as I can tell, the informal expression "get someone thrown" (also "be thrown") is used to indicate when one is confused or can't figure out what to do. Furthermore, you should know that since the aforesaid expression derives from the word "throw", this verb itself is also used in the same sense in order to mean "to cause confusion or perplexity in; disconcert or nonplus." Below you shall find a set of useful examples: E.g.: "We didn't let our worries throw us." E.g.: "It got us thrown to know the event had been postponed - we were all eager for it! E.g.: "I was thrown to hear my plans have come to naught." E.g.: "They were thrown by their daughter's choices in life." E.g.: "It had/got us thrown to hear of his misdeeds." Hope that helps!!!

Your question has got Luiz thrown. It is like you are poised, and that you think you understand things, and then a question throws you. We made our plans, and then they were thrown out the window. To 'throw' or to 'be thrown' means, like in my examples above; it means that your stance, your understanding was disturbed, was upset, or was 'thrown' or removed from what you had. You had an understanding, and it was destroyed. You had a stance/ a way of looking at something, and then that situation was 'thrown away' or destroyed by a new situation/question/answer. Your question had Luiz thrown. The interviewee's answer had the interviewer thrown, so much that she didn't know what to think. etc.
