Learner added the definition of the word "reserved" ,which is quite irrelevant to the context of the 3 other words mentioned by you, but surely she misread the word "revered" :)

Hello David Wei, "Revered" means worthy of adoration and great admiration. It is a level higher than just being "respected". A respected person is also admired and thought of highly but relatively less than a revered person. In your examples the revered professor has a higher degree of importance and admiration than the respected one. A " respectable" person is a person approved of by a society and considered to be morally correct, which makes him worthy of respect and deserving esteem. The difference between " respectable" and "respected" is that "respected" is emphasizing that the person is subject to respect and admiration by others, while "respectable" refers to the fact that the person is worthy of that respect. Examples: "He is a respectable renowned member of the committee " He is approved by that group ( the committee) for his good morals. "He is a respected member in the committee." He is considered important and admired . "He is a revered member .." That is a degree higher , where is person is thought highly of , adored ( more than just admired) , looked up to ( for superior qualities most probably and /or extraordinary manners) and honored.
