Rachel

Each lesson with Rachel is a pleasure. She is always prepared and takes her job seriously, but every lesson is also relaxed and personal. If I'm focused, we can progress quickly; if I'm struggling, Rachel takes more time to go over things in a variety of ways until I get it. Learning a new language will always be a challenge, but with Rachel helping me, I feel a lot more confident that someday I’ll finally get there.

Rachel was very good and very well prepared. I am a complete beginner - she made sure that my tones were correct, taught me several useful phrases, and explained the words behind the phrases.

Rachel is a very supportive teacher and is always very well prepared. She sends me an article to read before the class and then we go through it together. We also have free flowing discussion in which she helps me with any unknown vocabulary. I really enjoy my lessons with Rachel. Rachel is very punctual and has a great internet connection, so that our lessons can proceed smoothly.

The classes with Rachel 老师 are always enjoyable and the lessons are relaxed. So while you're learning a lot, you aren't afraid to make mistakes, and she helps you and gives you feedback while also giving you a chance to figure it out, which shows how patient she can be. One aspect that I find really important is that it's not hard to understand what she's saying and she adapts the lessons according to your level, while still making sure you progress each time. I can 100% say I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Rachel 老师 to anyone learning Mandarin.

This was my first lesson with Rachel. Before the lesson, I had explained to her that my pronunciation is my biggest problem and it's keeping me from feeling comfortable speaking the language. She came prepared with a lesson to practice the tones and different combinations and explained how to pronounce each one. I found her feedback helpful and now understand which tones and combinations I need to improve. Before we started practicing pronunciation, she asked me a number of questions to help gauge my language level, and she was actually able to tell that I am not HSK 2, but leaning a bit towards HSK 3. (In the initial communication I said I was HSK 2, because I still make basic mistakes at times and am still busy covering HSK 3.) I found it surprising that she was able to tell after just a couple of questions. I also find it easy to understand when she speaks. So I would say her way of speaking is very clear. Looking forward to continuing classes with her!

Rachel is a great teacher, patient and knowledgeable. She uses mandarin as much as possible to help me learn better, but switches to English as required, e.g. to explain grammar when I struggle to understand, which is a great combination.
