Hi, my name is Yumi, it is so nice to meet you!
I am a native Japanese speaker, born and raised in Chiba (land of peanuts and home to Tokyo Disney Resorts!), Japan.
Let me introduce two of my favourite things:
The 1st one is traveling. I love exploring new places, getting lost, learning about history and cultures during a trip. There were over 15 countries I had visited before the pandemic and I have even lived in the UK for more than 4 years.
I've been living in the Netherlands since March 2023 and I enjoy studying Dutch!
My other favourite is...anime and manga! I also am a big fan of J-idol group.
My favourite works? Don’t get me started. You can find out more if you take a lesson!
Tôi với tư cách là giáo viên
I am a qualified Japanese teacher (420 hours of training at a Japanese government accredited training institution) to teach students of all levels, A1-C1. I have over 600hours of teaching experience online and 100hours offline for students from 20 different coutries.
When I was living in Japan in 2022, I collaborated with a Japanese public organisation to open Japanese language classes for expats, who are raising children in Tokyo.
I am also a former elementary school teacher, giving me extensive experience with children over the age of 7. Having received a Master’s degree in translation studies at the University College London in the UK, I can smoothly communicate in English.
Phong cách dạy & bài học của tôi
I have two teaching specialties, in addition to teaching Japanese grammar and general conversation.
1. Japanese used in parenting and in a Japanese school setting.
2. Japanese used to enjoy your favourite manga/anime.
I enjoy teaching not only international parents living in Japan but also people who work at school industries there.
Some of my students I taught recently passed JLPT N2 and N3 so I am confident to support your exam preparations.
My students are provided with tailour-made material such as PPT, handouts and videos, depending on the learning contents.

General Japanese lessons tailoured for you: All Level
Yumi sensei is very encouraging and helpful! I always find our conversations to be really helpful, and I especially love how she writes vocabulary I don't know in the chat so that our conversation can flow smoothly! I'm feeling more and more confident every week with my Japanese :)

今日のレッスンは楽しかった。ゆみ先生は私にお寺とお神社のマナーを教えてくれました。そして、日本の仏教とシンガポールの仏教の違うことの話をしました。今日はたくさんのことを勉強しました。ゆみ先生のレッスンをいつも面白いので、楽しみにしています。10回のレッスンをありがとうございました。次のレッスンを楽しみにしています!
Today's lesson was fun. Yumi-sensei taught me about mannerisms at Shinto shrines and Buddhism temples. We also talked about the difference between Buddhist temples in Japan and Singapore. I learnt a lot today. Lessons with Yumi-sensei are always interesting, so I always look forward to them. Thank you for the past ten lessons. Can't wait for our next class!
