Learning a new language, especially one as intricate as Khmer, is no small feat. Yet, under the guidance of Termizi, my journey into the Cambodian alphabet has been nothing short of transformative. He has an exceptional ability to make complex concepts seem simple and accessible, ensuring that I could read and write in the Cambodian alphabet far quicker than I had anticipated. I just had my first Thai language class, and I was quite nervous before it started. However, Teacher Termizi made the experience much smoother than I expected. From the very beginning, he got straight into teaching, which I really appreciated—it helped me focus right away instead of overthinking. Teacher Termizi was very nice, patient, and guided me well throughout the lesson. I felt more comfortable as the class progressed, and his teaching style made learning Thai enjoyable. Dr Termizi is an unusually gifted teacher, being able to teach three very different languages, Malay, Thai and Cambodian. He is tutoring me in Malay. I have already been learning Indonesian for 4 years with Indonesian tutors and was curious about the differences between Indonesian and Malay. Dr Termizi has been an excellent guide in this regard, and his own passionate interest in languages brings an extra luster to our interactions. It’s very interesting having conversation classes with someone who is sophisticated and cosmopolitan, he brings layers of experience that others may not possess.
