It turns out I was Lala's first ever student and lesson on iTalki, and I had a very enriching time. Even in her first italki lesson, her decade of experience teaching Filipino was very apparent! Given her background in Filipino linguistics and literature, she was able to speak, explain, and dissect the Filipino language at a depth I hadn't previously experienced.
I'm looking forward to future lessons with her, and I highly recommend her to anyone who's serious about learning Filipino/Tagalog and its variations across casual, academic, literary, and other registers!
