When I was younger, I knew that I wanted to teach English to people from other countries. I was always interested in reading books that were set in different countries. When I was in college, I finally had the opportunity to travel outside of the United States. I have been to London and Scotland; I also studied abroad in Italy. While I was in Italy, I taught English, which made me feel certain that this was the right fit for me. Learning about different cultures has always been an area of interest to me so becoming an ESL/EFL teacher allows me to continue learning while also teaching the language. I love having conversations with students to learn more about them and their culture. I believe that speaking the language one is trying to learn is what truly helps students' growth. Making mistakes is what helps people learn, so I will not be mad if anyone makes any errors. An example of a typical lesson includes introducing specific vocabulary words, a grammar concept and/or a passage to read, and a conversation that ties into the grammar concept or passage.
