AKI HAPPY

My weekly Happy Conversation lessons with Aki Sensei have become a really important part of my study routine. It’s funny how it works - on any given week I often feel like I’m struggling but I can look back to a few months ago and see how much progress I’ve made. Her infinite patience with my clumsy Japanese is much appreciated, and she always gives me enough time to work out what I want to say. She is clearly a gifted and experienced teacher and I’m really glad I found her on this site!

Aki-Sensei is an excellent teacher. She is attentive to the student and makes the lesson fun and engaging. She also made sure to communicate very well before the day of lesson to get to know a little about my daughter and made the lesson fun for her. Thank you so much! If you book with this teacher, you will not be disappointed! We will book again.

Today was the first lesson with Aki sensei, it was a great lesson! She prepared cards with different topics, such as: - If you could tell something to all people on the Earth, what it would be? - If you have a chance, would you go to the Mars? - What book made the biggest impression on you? I think its a great way to make lesson, every time we can pick different themes and discuss it. Your Japanese level will be improved much faster if you will speak on different themes everytime, in this way you can broad you vocabulary, and also you can heard what Sensei thinks about that, which is very interesting as we all have totally different backgrounds, and that that we can talk about anything online while studing language its just great. Thank you Aki-sensei, looking forward to the next lesson with you!

Aki Sensei’s lessons are always fun and incredibly helpful for me. We talked about a lot of different topics today, including American politics, restaurants in Hawaii, home renovations, and things that made my parents angry when I was a child. Other than food (which is a frequent topic lol), most of the topics were a little challenging from a vocabulary perspective. But with Aki Sensei’s expert guidance and patience we were able to keep a good conversation going. It’s difficult for me to find opportunities to practice speaking, so I really value this time every week!

I try to make the most of the limited time I have to study each week, and my lesson with Aki Sensei is always the best hour of the week. Today I was happy that I was able to talk longer than usual about each topic, because in the past I would run out of vocabulary pretty quickly. Aki Sensei is always very patient with my slow pace and I feel very comfortable trying out new grammar and making mistakes. Over time I can tell that I’m getting better, and each week I can do just a little bit more!

Today was my first lesson of 2025 and it was a lot of fun! Although I studied a lot on my own during my winter break, I am really happy to be able to resume my weekly Happy Conversation lessons with Aki Sensei. In today’s lesson, we chatted about New Years activities (黒目豆を食べてる) and then talked about our most-used emojis (🤙), alarm sounds (🐶) and what song I would choose as an entrance song if I were an athlete. Every week she provides new topics and I can’t emphasize enough how fantastic Aki Sensei is - she has really helped me improve my skills! I’m really looking forward to continuing my lessons all year long 😊
