I have been teaching English before part-time during my university years and had experience with people of different ages and language levels. As I had so many tutors myself while learning English and German, I understand exactly how to help a student to struggle through first difficulties, as well as to help to improve and to advance on the higher levels.

I have studied some dozen or so languages to varying degrees, so I’m quite experienced with various methods of learning. I have also taught classes in university before, both language and otherwise.

Language learner and patient tutor I am very patient and understand the struggles of learning a new language as I have spent a couple years on italki as a student myself and continue taking lessons regularly. As a tutor I try to do the things that I have found most useful as a learner. We can speak about what interests you, read texts together or watch videos online and then talk about those. I do want to help you with whatever you need, so we will start by speaking about your goals and expectations regarding the lessons. I do not believe in studying grammar charts or vocabulary lists, but I do believe in improving those areas by gaining a natural understanding of how a language works through listening, reading an speaking.

Als ich Spanisch gelernt habe, hatte ich zunächst Hemmungen, mit MuttersprachlerInnen zu sprechen. Deshalb kann ich es gut nachvollziehen, wie schwierig es sein muss, Deutsch zu sprechen. Ich möchte als community tutor zeigen, dass man sich gut auch mit einem niedrigen Deutschlevel mit MuttersprachlerInnen unterhalten kann, da die richtigen Endungen von Wörtern etc. nicht unbedint notwendig sind, um Inhalte zu verstehen. Deshalb möchte ich mit Konversationen das Selbstvertrauen im Deutschsprechen vergrößern.

So I want to make it as fun as possible by using media and motivate students by showing them what they have achieved so far using practical examples. Außerdem bin ich zertifizierte psychologische Beraterin und bin deshalb sehr einfühlsam und kann im Rahmen des Unterrichts bei Lernschwierigkeiten auf Grund von Blockaden helfen und unterstützen. Aus eigener Erfahrung weiß ich, wie schwierig es sein kann, in der Fremdsprache zu sprechen, weil wir vielleicht Angst haben, Fehler zu machen. Aber es ist so großartig, dass wir eine neue Sprache lernen - dafür müssen wir uns nicht schämen.
