As mentioned, I believe having a native grasp in both English and Spanish is an advantage. It allows me to easily translate idiomatic concepts and expressions that don’t have literal equivalent from one language to the other. I can draw meaning from my native understanding of both languages (and my experience in using both in daily life) to find the right examples and the closest translations from the source to the target language. I studied linguistics and, even though it is generally not required for a language teacher to be trained in linguistics, there is a growing number of experts in the community who believe it's a huge plus. I have an interest in topics based around current news and music. I like to laugh and get to know different types of people from all over the world. The use of news articles or song lyrics as a bases of discussion seems like a fun way to go. I like to discuss topics that the student would enjoy. As a teacher, I have a great balance between work and play. You will find that most of the times in my classroom, in between lessons, is a fun and active ice breaker. My lessons range from theory to practical work, use of props and acting out, with a lot of engagement with my student.
