以前 (yǐ qián) and 从前 (cóng qián) both has 前, which means front, in English they can both be translated as before, they are even be exchangeable sometimes, however they are quite different in usage, comparing with 从前, 以前 has more usages, in this episode I will show you 7 examples to help you understand better

       猫妈妈带着小猫在河边钓鱼。一会儿，一只蜻蜓飞过来，小猫就去捉蜻蜓。一会儿，一只蝴蝶飞过来，小猫又去捉蝴蝶，结果什么都没有捉到，也没有钓到鱼。这时，猫妈妈已经钓到好几条大鱼了。小猫生气地说:“我怎么钓不到鱼呢?“ 妈妈说：“你一会儿捉蜻蜓，一会儿捉蝴蝶，三心二意，怎么能钓到鱼呢?”
       小猫听了妈妈的话，就专心地钓鱼了。不一会儿，小猫也钓到了一条大鱼，她和妈妈都笑了。

māo mā ma dài zhe xiǎo māo zài hé bian diào yú。yí huìr， yì zhī qingtíng fēi guo lai，xiǎo māo jiù qù zhuōqīng tíng。yí huìr，yì zhī hú dié fēi guo lai，xiǎo māo yòu qù zhuō hú dié，	jié quǒ shén me dou méi yǒu zhuō dào，yě méi yǒu diào dào yú。zhè shí，māo mā ma yǐ jīng diào dào hǎo jǐ tiáo dà yú le。xiǎo māo shēng qi	de shuo：“wǒ zěn me diào bú dào yú ne？”	mā ma shuo	：“ni yí huìr zhuō qīng tíng，yí huìr zhuō hú dié，sān xīn èr yì，zěn me nénq diào dào yú ne？”	

xiǎo māo tīng le mā ma de huà，jiù zhuān xīn de diào yú le。bù yí huìr，xiǎo māo yě diào dào le yì tiáo dà yú，tā hé mā ma dōu xiào le。

今日は朝に飲む飲み物について話そうと思います。
みんなは朝なんか飲む？それともなんにも飲まない？
俺は基本的にはコーヒーが好きだから毎朝コーヒー飲んでるんだけど、最近ねぇ、自分がちょっと飲みすぎてることに気付いたから少し飲む量を控えてるんだよね。
でも、コーヒーはまだ普通に好きだから、完全に飲まないって訳じゃなくて、お茶を代わりに飲むようにしてる！
って言うのもさぁ、俺今スウェーデンから追い出されて日本に一時的に帰って来てるんだけど、最近はおばあちゃんちでお世話になっててさ、毎日コーヒー飲んでたらおばあちゃんに『いや、あんたもう飲みすぎよぉ！コーヒーがどんどん減ってっちゃうじゃないのよぉ！！コーヒーばっかりじゃなくてお茶も飲むようにしなさいよぉ！』って言われたのもあるんだけどね笑
しかも俺強いブラックコーヒーが好きだからさ、おばあちゃんの3倍くらい入れてどんどんどんどん無くなっちゃうんだよね😭
俺のスウェーデン人の妻は今スウェーデンにいるんだけど、彼女もコーヒーが大好きだから、スウェーデンにいた時は、めちゃくちゃコーヒー飲んでたけど、最近はめちゃくちゃ飲みたい気持ちを抑えて、コーヒーの代わりになるべくお茶を飲むようにしてます。
んで、みんなは何を飲むんだい？
俺と一緒でコーヒーが大好き！って言う人も、全然コーヒー好きじゃねぇよ！って言う人も、教えてね！
