In today’s post, I bring up a question that has been there for years while I was studying English. It is which English accent is suited for me. I had thought all English native speakers speak in RP during my school years. Expected to hold up well in a room full of Brits, but I didn’t. The true story was I nearly kept silent throughout the entire meeting, when the other people spoke in various accents and talked rapidly. After that, someone told me that just a few British nationals spoke in RP actually, quite a few English teachers even shifted into their own most time.

In today’s post, I bring up a question that has been there for years while I was studying English. It is which English accent is suited for me. I had thought during my school years that (nicer syntax) all English native speakers speak in RP. I expected to hold up well in a room full of Brits, but I didn’t. The true story was I nearly kept/stayed silent throughout the entire meeting, when/while (the) other people spoke in various accents and talked rapidly. After that, someone told me that actually just a few British nationals spoke in RP, quite a few English teachers even shifted into their own accent most of the time. Well done Yuan. A very ambitious and good piece of writing. Most of my suggested changes are syntax related, so it reads nicer with less ambiguity. Keep it up!
