Do both have the same meaning?

Question: Is the original grammatically correct?
What/who does the relative pronoun "which" refer to?
and the pronoun "them"?
I slightly guess : them ≠ the men in the original, but I don't know who are them. Are they the people who can find "the best men" in the original?
