Diwali (the Festival of Lights) is actually today (4/11) and is celebrated by Hindus all around the world. We light lamps that ward of any evil and celebrate the start of the new Hindu year! Happy Diwali to all celebrating today 🪔 Here’s a small shoot I did with my family today 😢😁

Heritage Day - Usuku Lwamagugu, Usuku Lwamasiko is a South African public holiday celebrated on 24 September. On this day, South Africans are encouraged to celebrate their culture and the diversity of their beliefs and traditions, in the wider context of a nation that belongs to all its people. On this day, I enjoy wearing my traditional outfit and of course spend time with my family. #AmazingFestival

In France we have "la fête de la musique" Holiday of music, it's always on the 21st of June. There are lots of free concerts everywhere: outside, in the parce, in front of restaurants, in restaurants. You can listen to different kinds of music and the atmosphere is great.

Slovakia🇸🇰- Easter or Veľká Noc in my language (word by word translation is Big Night😂) It usually happens in March or April. It’s a big christian (but most of the people, not only christians celebrate the main part of it) tradition in my country which has been known for generations but to be honest it’s pretty sexist and weird festival. Easter lasts several days and the most famous one is Easter Monday. Basically men and boys visit women and girls (who are their relatives or friends) during this day. They pull water on women and/or whipe them with wooden whip (so women will stay healthy)😅 Sometimes they just use perfume. After that women give them food and often even money! I know it sounds terrible and in my opinion it's not ok. But especially older generations find it really important. I recommend you funny video (https://youtu.be/oK2yxy5wuEM ) from Slovak man Peter (but video is in English) where you can find out more about my country and about this festival. But it’s a parody so don’t take it too seriously (although many things are true). Image shows Easter rituals performed by folklorists, usually people don't wear traditional clothes.

In Kyrgyzstan we celebrate Nooruz - New Year, which is celebrated in March on the day of Spring Equinox. It has Zoroastrian origins, but nowadays is a wonderful celebration of life, spring. On the photo, women are carrying traditional spring beverage that is made on Nooruz. In famine times families used to cheap in the sprouted wheat they had and cook this rich thick beverage for everyone to share. They would gather around, burn the juniper to scare away the evil, and celebrate the spring, beginning of sowing season.
