Hello! I live on a fairly large island in Korea. I used to work as a software engineer, and now I work as a Korean tutor. Language learning has always been one of my hobbies. Because of that interest, and for a few different reasons along the way, I eventually started teaching Korean. When you study a new language, you often discover a new side of yourself. It’s always interesting to see how people express themselves differently in another language. In my everyday life, I’m actually quite a quiet person. But in class, I’m very different. My students sometimes say it’s hard to imagine that I’m normally a quiet person! When we learn a language, I don’t think we are creating something completely new. Most of the time, we are simply recalling and reusing things we have heard before. That’s why repetition is naturally very important. My job is to find ways to make that repetition effective without making it boring. Each student receives homework tailored to their needs, including high-quality personalized audio recordings. With this homework, my students can practice reading, writing, and listening together, which makes a big difference. I usually don’t leave written feedback after class. If something needs to be discussed, I prefer to talk about it during the lesson. My lessons follow my own course roadmap. We can choose a reference textbook if needed, but it is not required. Usually beginner and intermediate lessons will begin with questions and answers in Korean.
