はい、こんにちは。今回はポッドキャストの15回目です。先月、不動産屋のウェブサイトを見たら、私の住んでいるアパートの家賃が下がっていることに気付きました。大家さんに相談したら、私も家賃を下げてもらえることになりました。ラッキーです。日本のアパートは時間が経つと家賃が下がることがあります。

Hello, this is episode 15 of season 2 of my podcast. Last month, I looked at the estate agent's website and noticed that the rent for the apartments in my apartment building had gone down. I talked to my landlord and he agreed to lower my rent too. I feel lucky. Apartments in Japan can have their rent reduced over time.

最近は大学で比較教育学について勉強しています。比較教育学とは、いろいろな国の教育システムの違いや、教育の歴史を調べて、比べる学問です。いろいろな国の教育を比べると、社会の違いがよくわかります。たとえば、義務教育の違いです。義務教育とは、子供が学校に行かなければならない期間です。日本は、小学校６年、中学校３年、全部で９年です。アメリカは９年から13年で、州によって違います。日本では、どの学校も同じ教科書を使います。アメリカでは、決められた教科書がありません。

I have recently been studying comparative pedagogy at university. Comparative pedagogy is the study of the differences in education systems and the history of education in different countries. Comparing the education systems of different countries gives a clear picture of the differences between societies. An example is the difference in Gimukyouiku. ‘Gimukyouiku’ (compulsory education) is the period during which children have to go to school. In Japan, there are six years of elementary school and three years of junior high school, nine years in all. In the USA, it ranges from 9 to 13 years, depending on the state. In Japan, all schools use the same textbooks. In the USA, there are no set textbooks.

今日はアメリカの生徒さんと、このことについて話しました。アメリカの中学校の歴史の授業では、国の歴史以外に、州の歴史も勉強するそうです。知りませんでした。日本の中学校では、どこに住んでいても同じ内容の、国の歴史を勉強します。高校でも歴史を勉強しますが、どこの学校も大体同じ内容だと思います。内容が大きく変わるのは大学に入ってからです。大学では専攻に関係する歴史を詳しく勉強します。

Ein Mensch ist Analphabet, wenn er nicht oder nicht RICHTIG lesen und schreiben kann. Das sind in Deutschland etwa 7,5 Millionen oder 14,5 % aller ERWACHSENEN. Ein funktionaler Analphabet kann vielleicht Buchstaben und Wörter lesen, er hat aber MÜHE einen längeren Text zu verstehen. Für diese Menschen sind viele ALLTÄGLICHE Dinge eine große Herausforderung: das Lesen eines FAHRPLANS, das Verstehen einer Gebrauchsanweisung, das Ausfüllen eines Formulars oder das Schreiben einer Nachricht auf dem Smartphone. Analphabetismus hat viele Gründe. Diese Menschen sind aber fast immer von wichtigen Bereichen des täglichen Lebens ausgeschlossen. Der LEIDENSDRUCK kann groß sein und so entwickeln viele von ihnen komplizierte Strategien, um ihr Defizit zu VERTUSCHEN: Man hat die Brille vergessen, hat sich die Hand verletzt, hat keinen Stift dabei und so weiter. All das ist SELBSTVERSTÄNDLICH keine Lösung des Problems. Es gibt aber Hilfe für erwachsene Analphabeten:  In den größeren Städten werden Kurse angeboten und natürlich können Betroffene auch digitale Möglichkeiten nutzen.
