- minasan konnichiwa. (あさこ です) - Asako desu. I brought my friend, Mori san today. :-) Let me introduce her to you all. (みなさん、こちら は もりさん です) - minasan, kochira wa Mori san desu. - This is Ms. Mori. --- こちら is a demonstrative pronoun to express things/people/way which is close to you in a polite way. We'll learn more about a it in Lesson 2 and Lesson 3coming shortly. Lets's get back on today's subject. :-) I'll introduce her a bit more. (もりさん は がくせい です) - Mori san wa gakusei desu. -- Ms. Mori is a student. (もりさん は おおさかだいがく の がくせい です) - Mori san wa Osaka daigaku no gakusei desu. -- Ms. Mori is a student at the University of Osaka. --- 大学(だいがく)=daigaku= university/ college. --- If you don't want to mention about your university/college name, it would be... - Mori san wa daigakusei desu. --- OK then, here is another friend, Tanaka san. He is an office worker. His company's name is "SUNNY(サニー)". (たなかさん は かいしゃいん です) - Tanaka san wa kaishain desu. -- Mr. Tanaka is an office worker. (たなかさん は サニー の しゃいん です) - Tanaka san wa SUNNY no shain desu. -- Mr. Tanaka is an office worker at SUNNY. (is correct? :-s) --- Here's 2 points. 1 is サニー "の " 社員(しゃいん), as we're learning. 2 is that it was changed 会社員(かいしゃいん) to 社員(しゃいん) when you say the company's name. So, don't say "私 は 社員 です。" when you introduce yourself, but "私 は 会社員 です" or "私 は <company's name> の 社員 です。" personally, I always say "私は会社員です" Its because our company is so small that nobody knows it even if I mentioned. However, remember <名詞(めいし)=noun> の <名詞(めいし)=noun>, because it is very practical, indeed. You'll see it soon. (おおさかだいがく の がくせい です) --- So, this is the final of Lesson1. Now you can say your name, nationality, age, occupation. You can ask others and answer them too. When you found the similarity, you can tell them too. If you want to practice, feel free to convo me :-)
