If something 'won't get you anywhere' ,it means this thing is useless and it is not worth doing it or pursuing it.It won't change a situation or make it any better. "Complaining won't get you anywhere, you better start acting." "Trying to get in touch with her won't get you anywhere, you better start all over again and forget completely about her." Something that 'get you everywhere' is quite the contrary of that thing 'not getting you anywhere',where it is something with a good impact, useful and recommended. It is something, that would make things ( in a certain area of interest )easier for one and open many doors . "Paying women compliments will get you anywhere with them." "Studying at one of those universities will get you anywhere, it would make you the best candidate for the most prestigious jobs in the country."

"wont get you anywhere" is usually used after a negative statement, for example: "Crying like that wont get you anywhere" - The contrast is not "get you everywhere" mind, its more like: "Will get you places" - which follows a positive statement, for example: "Your work ethic will get you places" - its encouragement for someone who is onto a good thing, a needed quality in an acedemic way perhaps. Que pasa??
