It's a slang verb to replace did not/does not or negative, present to be verbs (am not, is not, etc.). Am not example: I'm not a boy! ---> I ain't a boy! Did not example: I didn't do that! ---> I ain't do that!

"ain't" was orignally used by lower classes in America. It had crept somewhat into spoken English. Under no circumstances do you use it in formal settings. The most famous use of "ain't" is "Ain't I a stinker?" a rhetorical question posed by Bugs Bunny, that irrascible rabbit. For those who do not know who is Bugs Bunny should google and find out this American Icon. Then there is also a classical standard song by the name of "Ain't she tweet?"

what's the meaning of the word " ain't "? and when it's used? Hi Friend!!! Its the contraction of "am not". (is not right grammaticaly, but it's used frequently for americans speakers) and it's used also as a contraction for are not, is not, has not, and have not. Example: I'm not enjoyed this weekend. I ain't enjoyed this weekend. See ya ;)

"Ain't" can mean "am not, "is not," or "are not." It is NOT just a contraction of "am not." Or, put another way, it ain't a contraction of "am not." :) I am surprised that nobody has mentioned this yet -- ain't is NOT CORRECT GRAMMAR. I just want to emphasize that. Ain't is WRONG and INCORRECT. Never use this word in writing or in formal situations. People sometimes say it to sound more down to earth or folksy or common. It is in rap songs. Presidents say it. But it is incorrect grammar and you should avoid using it except in very specific cases.
