What does "your guts" mean in this context? SCRIPT Mike: "I'm sorry about before, shoving you, I didn't mean to." Mr. Shaw: "I'm not going to break. I'm sorry too, for questioning your commitment, your guts. I know better than that." QUESTION What does "your guts" mean in this context? I think it's kind of a slang word, isn't it? Anyway, I'm gonna wait for your answer. Thanks in advance~!

Guts means courage. People say you feel nervousness in the stomach, the GUTS, so they say you need to HAVE guts to be brave. They're really saying, ignore the nervous feelings in your stomach and be brave. Guts of steel, steel guts. Steel myself up. He's gutless!!! Etc From War time, I think, and I think it's American.

in a part of the text there is a hint; the "commitment" helps you get the meaning of the rest. i think it is not an idiom it is "the essential power or effectiveness of a person" ; the bravery. :)

I agree with Beth. "Your guts" is not slang, but common speech. There is a big difference.
